The "Hidden Works of The King" has been through 4 releases as of July 2003:
Revision 2.1 (July 4 2003)
The 2.1 patch is installed ON TOP of an existing installation - you must first install the HWOTK from your original CD that I mailed to you and then install the 2.1 patch! To download the 8.3MB installer please click HERE. The reason this patch is so large is it contains the full databases for Songs and Concert Dates. If you install this update without having first installed from the 2.0 CD the program will display a runtime error when it is ran - the C:\Windows\BOOK_CD.INI file won't have a valid entry established for the database paths section of the .INI file - open up the file in Notepad, delete the entries under the PATH section, save the BOOK_CD.INI file and then restart the HWOTK application. From the main menu option select BROWSE, then DEFINE DATABASE PATHS and re-establish the paths to the database files to update the BOOK_CD.INI file with the correct information.
- Added a new filters in the main listbox screen (customer request)
- Display only CDR releases
- Display only Soundboard releases
- Display only Revision 0 database entries
- Display only Revision 1 database entries
Ensured only one instance of the Concert screen can be displayed (window thread limiting).
New installation program used: Simplified installation process for customers
Automatically modifies boot_cd.ini file for TYPICAL install type for disc.tps path
Recompiled with Clarion 5.5H; hopefully will fix sporadic Windows XP problems. Requires users to overwrite the boot_cd.exe executable file and all *.dll runtime files
Upgraded version of registration module from vendor. Hopefully will stop incorrect registration error and stop negative unlock code generation
Revised runtime file for image display module. Hopefully will stop Imag'N trial message from being displayed on some systems
Updated the disc.tps database file a. Fixed pointer problem for the More Pure Elvis database entry; couldn't be added to collection
Fixed several CDR releases that were incorrectly identified as CD releases (Will require a new CD to be mailed to customer; file too large to download)
The master song list (of all CD entries) and concert date listbox screens have tooltip help that explains how to sort information (Elvisnews.Com suggestion)
Files replaced by the 2.1 installation program are: Book_Cd.exe (this is the actual "book')
C55ascx.dll (runtime file)
C55Dosx.dll (runtime file)
C55Runx.dll (runtime file)
C55Tpsx.dll (runtime file)
Cpc55p32.dll (runtime file)
Das55tx.dll (runtime file)
Gr5540x.dll (runtime file)
Imw32d40.dll (runtime file)
P55lux.dll (runtime file)
Tg55cmx.dll (runtime file)
Revision 2.0 (March 29 2003)
- Program changed from compiled HTML to a relational database format Makes all information in the program searchable
- Allows for information to be linked to information YOU can enter!
- Extends functionality from being "just a reference book" to one that can also manage your collection! Each item in the database can be "flagged' - the flag shows you own the item in your personal collection. A separate database stores information about the copy you own
- New reports for Compact Disc/Vinyl/Concert Audio tapes that you own, or shopping list for items you need
- Ability to print a color Compact Disc jewel case (front/back) from the program added - no more scouring the Internet for scans for your CDR copies! The output perfectly fits a standard sized jewel case.
- Primary screens are filterable to show specific sets of information Items that you own, or those you still need
- Concerts that are bootlegged on LP or CD
- Display only Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe or tour shows
- Show only soundboard recordings
- Display shows that private recordings exist
- Show all canceled shows
All Compact Disc or Vinyl songs are searchable - you can quickly see every time a song was performed, or the take number(s) that were released, and what Compact Disc or Vinyl album has them!
Second Revision (August 2002 - Started)
- Decided to change from HTML source to a custom database application (that I would write) that provides: Improved user interface (in my opinion <g>)
- Better image manipulation for the user
- Ability to generate compact disc inserts (front/back cover)
- Better registration module; less error prone
- Added complete concert information (1954-1977)
- Added concert audio tape information
- Ability to view ALL songs from ALL entries on one screen. This enables you to find every time Elvis performed a song in one location
First Revision (November 2001)
- Book had to recreated from scratch using FrontPage 2000; the book had grown so large that NetObjects Fusion couldn't open it any more! Several months wasted evaluating different applications that could handle the size of the book
- Completely different design; easier to read and navigate
- Added 103 vinyl titles, complete with scans
- Added 96 compact disc titles
Initial Release (March 2001)
- Created from HTML source files (used NetObjects Fusion 4.0)
- Compact discs only; there were no CDR or vinyl entries
- Approximately 352 compact disc titles
- Excellent reviews posted online by several web sites
- Over 1400 image scans used
- Comprehensive listing of celebrity introductions by concert date
- Comprehensive listing of all concert dates found on CD
