After my wild ride with the 1970 Datsun 240Z I decided to jump back into the saddle again. I found a yellow 1972 240Z in Phoenix posted on Craigslist for $5700 that seemed promising.. dual Webers, rebuilt tranny, pretty straight body. The dilemma was getting the car from Phoenix to Albuquerque - would I fly to Phoenix and attempt to drive it back to Albuquerque  or sink an additional $600 to have it transported? I had kept looking on eBay to see what else would turn up - I kept seeing a silver 1973 car that had a ton of work done to it advertised for $10.5k, which was a little too steep for me. The car had a crack free original dash; never had a sunroof installed; clear title.. when the owner lowered the price down to $8500 I took the plunge and bought the car.

The previous owner was a real joy to work with; a buddy of his would drive the car down from Illinois for a reasonable rate. After money exchanged hands the car was driven down from Illinois and conked out only 40 miles away from my house - the previous owner ended up contacting AAA to have it placed on a flatbed and delivered to my garage on his dime. The driver tried the best he could to get the car running - at midnight we gave up after tinkering with the timing.

You can imagine my explanation to the wife that not only had I lost $6k on the 1970 240Z but now had a $8500 1973 240Z in the garage that wouldn't even start. Not exactly the "best of times"...
